Jagan Gets Huge Majority in Kadapa

It is now official. YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has won the by-elections to Kadapa Lok Sabha seat by securing a majority of 5,43,053 votes.

It is the second biggest margin of victory in any Lok Sabha election in the state and the third in the country.

The previous biggest majority in the country was that of CPI-M candidate Ananya Basu in Kolkata who had secured a majority of 5.90 lakh votes. In the state, the biggest-ever majority achieved so far was by former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao in Nandyal in 1991, when he defeated Bangaru Lakshman of BJP with a margin of 5,80,035 votes.

All said and done, it is a great achievement for Jagan to such a huge majority in a triangular contest, with both the Congress as well as the TDP putting up a big fight by fielding senior candidates. His his rivals may make any comment, but the majority has proved that it is the YSR family and not the Congress that rules the roost in Kadapa district.

Both Congress candidate DL Ravindra Reddy and Telugu Desam Party candidate MV Mysoora Reddy have lost their deposits.

Satya Sai Coffin Was Ordered Before Death

This is startling news. The details were officially grabbed by a TV channel. As per the channel, Satya Sai Trust ordered for a coffin on April 4th itself. As per the order the coffin was sent to Puttaparthi from Coimbatore's Kumar And Co. This has turned evident with the dated receipt and the order copy in the form of email.

So, the doubts surrounding Satya Sai death and the announcements made by doctors and Trust people are to be investigated.

This is apparently implying that Baba didn't breathe his last at 7:30 AM on Apr 24th but happened long ago.

Baba Shows his Miracle in the Sky

The sighting of the moon in the daytime has sent Sathya Sai Baba devotees into rapturous joy. When the mortal remains of Baba were being buried amidst vedic hymns at Sai Kulwant Hall in Puttaparthi, thousands of devotees witnessed a rare sight of the moon appearing in the clear summer sky. This was seen as a miracle of Baba. The devotees cried with joy on seeing the moon.

"This is a manifestation of Baba power," announced Anil Kumar, an ardent devotee who used to translate Baba preachings into English. For several devotees who adore Baba as a living God, the appearance of moon was a sign that Baba was showering his blessings on his followers from the sky.

Watched by a galaxy of personalities including Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and B.S. Yeddyurappa respectively Governors E.S.L. Narasimhan and Shivraj V. Patil, BJP leaders L.K. Advani, M.Venkiah Naidu, Bandaru Dattatreya, former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and hundreds of his followers, Sai Baba's body was buried amidst chanting of "sai" mantras.

Once the last rites were performed by vedic pandits, red curtains were drawn around 9:45 a.m. and the process started for laying the body in a pit created at the spot in Sai Kulwant where the spiritual leader used to make his preaching for his followers for a number of years. It lasted about 25 minutes.

The spot where he was buried is now expected to become an eternal memorial for Sai Baba, who at the age of 14 announced himself as a reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba.

Satya Sai Baba Next Avatar

Though the soul of Puttaparthi Satya Sai Baba has departed from his body, many believers vouch that this is just a temporary phase and Baba will be back. True to their beliefs, it is heard that Baba had once predicted about his next avatar and he would be seen as Prema Sai. This incarnation is likely to happen in Karnataka.

Now, there is always a fine line between faith and fanaticism so here is a tidbit which might get mixed reactions. A noted Tantric who hails from the Anantapur district said “Baba will be born in Muslim family in his next avatar. He will be known as Peer Masai (which sounds almost similar to Prema Sai).”

He added “Masai means ‘God’ Work’ in Arabic and Hebrew, Peer means noble on par with old and veterans doing god work. He is going to unite few nations with the concept of love and humanity and create a new world.” Well, if the words of Tantric are true then it remains to be seen how positively this will go with few fanatics.

Satya Sai Baba Enters Maha Samadhi

India most revered spiritual guru Satya Sai Baba entered “Maha Samadhi” on Wednesday, amid chanting of Vedic rhymes.

The last rites of Sai Baba, who passed away on Sunday, were performed at Sai Kulvant Hall in Prasanti Nilayam, in the presence of hundreds of select devotees and VIPs, while thousands of devotees watched it on giant television screens outside Prashanti Nilayam.

The last rites were performed as per the Hindu religion by his nephew and Satya Sai Trust member RJ Ratnakar Raju. As many 15 priests from various temples like Srisailam and Kalahasti read Vedic hymns, conducted “prayashchitta” and conducted proceedings like “dasa danams” (10 donations).

Ratnakar sprinkled holy water brought from nine sacred rivers and soil from the Saraswati Teertha, a pilgrimage spot – near present day Kurukshetra from where the ancient Saraswati river is said to have emerged.

After the rituals were completed at around 9.35 am, the process of laying Baba to rest in a pit (7ft deep and 12ft length) began. The pit is 10ft behind from where his body was placed in the glass casket in the hall since Sunday evening. Thick red colour curtains were pulled over the area so as to ensure that the Samadhi proceeding remain a private affair. Only key members of the Sai Trust and some family members would stand witness to the rituals.

Once the body was placed in the pit, holy ash was poured over the body, along with salt, silver, gold and navaratnas, to fill up Baba Samadhi. Later, soil brought from various religious places was filled in the Samadhi. After the Samadhi is built, a memorial with a golden statue of Baba would be built at the spot, which would be developed into sanctum sanctorum of Sai temple.

The location of his ‘Maha Samadhi’ has been chosen as per Satya Sai own wish. It is the same place from where he used to address his devotees and give darshan to them.

A host of VIPs including Governor, ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, LK Advani, Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil, Venkaiah Naidu, Chandrababu Naidu, and Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa are attending the funeral ceremony.

The state government, which had declared four day mourning since Sunday, also honoured Baba with a gun salute.

Satya Sai Baba Dead Body Photos

Sachin in Tears on Seeing Baba Body

The God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, could not control his tears on seeing the body of his spiritual Guru Satya Sai Baba. He flew down to Puttaparthi on Monday to pay homage to Baba.

Accompanied by his wife Anjali, the legendary cricketer reached Prashanthi Nilayam in the morning. As the couple approached the coffin where the Baba body was kept for public darshan, Sachin struggled hard to hold back his tears.

Those who accompanied him had to console him. Later, the couple sat silently for a while and participated in prayer. Earlier, Sachin, an ardent devotee of Baba, had cancelled his birthday celebrations on Sunday as a mark of respect for the departed spiritual guru.

However, he played the IPL match in Hyderabad, steering his Mumbai Indians team to victory against Deccan Chargers. Ever since checking in to Hotel Grand Kakatiya, he confined himself to the room along with his family members. A `Do Not Disturb` sign was hung on his hotel room door since the news of Baba demise came and he did not even meet his teammates before the match.

How About Mummifying Sai Baba?

The demise of spiritual leader Satya Sai Baba has brought a lot of grief to his devotees so much that they are unable to bear that they would not be able to see him physically after Wednesday, when he would be laid to rest in Samadhi.

Some of the devotees, like for example minister for minor irrigation T G Venkatesh, were wondering whether it would be possible to keep the body of Baba as it is, without being buried in Samadhi. “It could be mummified and kept in the Samadhi and could be thrown open to public darshan once in a day every year,” they said.

Well, there are no takers for such a demand, because it is impossible for the doctors to mummify the body. The Hindu customs do not allow such practices, which were witnessed only during medieval periods.

The devotees should feel only his “atma” and not his mortal remains, the trust authorities say.

Sachin Grieves; 'Do Not Disturb' Sign on Door

Iconic Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was a sad man on his 38th birthday on Sunday as his spiritual guru Sathya Sai Baba passed away this morning.

Tendulkar, who landed in Hyderabad late last night with wife Anjali and two kids, was confined to his room at the Grand Kakatiya hotel.

"He did not even have breakfast. No one was allowed to enter his room," a hotel manager told PTI.

There was speculation since Saturday that the Mumbai Indians captain would not celebrate his birthday in view of Baba health condition.

News of Baba demise this morning apparently came as a shock to Tendulkar.

A 'Do Not Disturb' sign was hung on his hotel room door since the news of Baba demise came and Tendulkar did not even meet his teammates, the hotel manager said. Only Mumbai Indians owner Tina Ambani was said to have met Tendulkar and consoled him.

Mumbai Indians will take on Deccan Chargers in an IPL match match at the Hyderabad International Cricket Stadium this evening but it is not yet clear whether Tendulkar will play the match.

None of the Mumbai Indians players or officials could be contacted for a comment. (PTI)

Baba Died on his Janma Nakshtram

Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba displayed his miracle even while leaving the mortal remains for heavenly abode. He breathed his last exactly in the same “Janma Nakshtram” (star) in which he was born on November 23, 1926.

According to the bulletin issued by Dr AN Safaya, the director of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Puttaparthi, the end of Bhagwan came at 7.40 am on Sunday.

However, as per the hospital records, Baba breathed his last exactly at 7.39 am. And according to local astrologers, the death took place on “Uttarashada Nakshtram, Chaitra Bahula Sapthami, Uttarayanam,” which is the most auspicious muhurtam for the death; which would take Baba directly to the heaven.

Interestingly, Baba was born exactly on the same “nakshtram” 85 years ago. “It is a rare phenomenon that people take birth and breathe last on the same nakshtram. Such people would attain the highest place in the heaven,” an astrologer said.

Satya Sai Baba Buried on Wednesday

Godman Satya Sai Baba, a cult like figure who had a phenomenal following, including the high and mighty, across the globe, died in Puttaparthi on Sunday, battling illness caused by a multi-organ failure for nearly a month.

The 84-year-old Baba, whose clout ran far and wide with millions of followers but had more than his own share of controversies, died at 7:40 AM following multi-organ failure at the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences founded by him in this backward Anantapur district town in Andhra Pradesh, the place from where he ran his spiritual empire.

"Bhagawan Sri Satya Sai Baba is no more with us physically. He left His earthly body on April 24 at 7:40 AM due to cardio-respiratory failure," AN Safaya, Director of the Institute, said.

Baba body will lie in state at Sai Kulwant Hall for two days Monday and Tuesday. Arrangements will be made for darshan after 6:00 pm today at the Hall, he said.

Sri Satya Sai Baba is No More

For the last seven decades, Puttaparthi, a sleepy town on the banks of Chitravati river in Anantapur district, has been a virtual “kailasam” for millions of people across the globe. Prashanti Nilayam, the heavenly abode of Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba, was a place for the devotees to enjoy the ultimate spiritual bliss.

Today, a pall of gloom has descended on Puttaparthi. The “living god,” whose spiritual influence has transcended oceans and continents and attracted millions of devotees across the world; and the man who made hundreds of high profile politicians, industrialists, film stars, sports persons and bureaucrats to prostrate at his feet, is no more, making one wonder whether Bhagwan also cannot escape the inevitable – the death.

Eighty five years ago, Ratnakaram Sathyanarayana Raju was like any other ordinary person belonging to a poor family of cowherds, representing Bhattaraju community (a backward class of Rayalaseema).

After he severed his worldly relationship with everybody at the age of 14 in 1940, declared himself as Satya Sai, a reincarnation of renowned saint Sai Baba of Shirdi, who died in 1918, he became the most powerful and influential spiritual leader in the world.

Unlike other saints and gurus like Ram Dev Baba or Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Jaggi Vasudev or for that matter, Swami Ranganathananda of Ramakrishna Mutt, Satya Sai Baba was not articulate or nor did he display his profound knowledge in Vedas or rituals.

He never made extensive quotes from Sanskrit scriptures like Bhagawad Gita or Upanishads; He never made elaborate speeches in English to attract foreign devotees; nor did he preach any philosophy like Shankaracharya. Yet, he managed to attract millions of devotees, who never hesitated to donate thousands of crores for his ashram. He was a self-made preacher. His words were very simple and convey a simple message: “follow the path of love, gain the virtue of love, perform the duty of love and have the obligation of love.”

He does not proclaim himself to be a god and there is no mention of any religion in his talk. “You can worship Christ or Krishna or Allah and still believe in Baba,” he says.

It was this unique feature that made Satya Sai appeal among the devotees over decades. But it was “miracles” and “divine magic” that brought him instant recognition. Even before he declared himself as Baba, Satya Sai displayed miracles in his childhood itself: of materialising objects such as food and sweets out of thin air.

After he attained sainthood, Baba traveled to different parts of the country and displayed his “miracles.” He was often found producing vibhuti (holy ash) and other objects like rings, necklaces and watches from out of thin air. Besides, there were instances of Baba producing holy water, Shiva Lingams, statues of deities (brass and gold), sugar candy, fruits, herbs and gems in the presence of huge crowds. People also used to come to him seeking relieving of physical pain and misery and they claimed to have found relief after having Baba darshan.

Sai Baba developed huge following within no time and his spiritual empire, too, started growing. Donations began pouring in from all parts of the country and within four years, his devotees constructed a mandir for him. In another four years, Prashanti Nilayam came up in about 100 acres of land in Puttaparthi. The swelling number of devotees to see his miracles and listen to his unique message of love and spirituality began attracting politicians, bureaucrats and even members of judiciary.

In the last six decades, almost every prominent personality, whether it was in politics, film industry or sports, visited Puttaparthi and turned staunch devotee of Sai Baba. From Indira Gandhi to PV Narasimha Rao to AB Vajpayee to Dr Manmohan Singh, almost every Prime Minister paid obeisance to Sai Baba. It has been a routine affair for Presidents of India from Shankar Dayal Sharma to Pratibha Patil to visit Puttaparthi and spend time with Baba. It has become a practice for either President or the Prime Minister to attend the convocation of Sri Satya Sai University at Puttaparthi as chief guest.

The followers of Satya Sai include a large number of chief ministers, ex-chief minsters, union ministers, state ministers, bureaucrats, IPS officers, retired and serving judges of Supreme Court and High Courts and even scientists and officials of Indian Military Services. They have been regular visitors to Puttaparthi.

Interestingly, Sai Baba traveled to only one country during his life time and that was Uganda in June 1968. His discourse brought him instant recognition overseas and the international community, which always looked at India as a mystic land, treated Sai Baba with reverence. And the spiritual empire of Sai Baba spread to 114 countries in which there are over 1200 Satya Sai Seva Centres.

According to Satya Sai Central Trust claims, there are over 10 million devotees in 178 countries. There may be people who may not believe in Sai Baba miracles and brush them aside as cheap publicity tricks, but they, too, admire Baba for his philanthropic and social service activities. The Sri Satya Sai Central Trust runs a number of educational institutions, hospitals, and other charitable institutions in over 166 countries. The Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, now called Sri Satya Sai University, provides free education at all its three campuses Puttaparthi, Whitefield (Bangalore) and Anantapur. It also runs Sri Satya Sai Mirpuri College of Music.

The Sri Satya Sai Super Specialty Hospital, Whitefield and Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Puttaparthi are the world-class medical institutes. Besides, the trust runs several general hospitals, two speciality hospitals, eye hospitals and mobile dispensaries and conducts medical camps in rural and slum areas in India.

It has also funded several major drinking water projects in drought prone Anantapur, Mahbunnagar, Medak and Chennai. In Latur which was struck by earthquake in 1994 and Orissa, which was affected by cyclone, the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization has built houses for the affected. The trust also runs several schools in Canada, Australia, Mexico, the UK, Zambia and Peru.

In the last seven decades, Sai Baba created assets worth crores of rupees. Though nobody knows the exact value of the assets, it is tentatively believed that the Trust owned immovable property including lands in and around Puttaparthi to the tune of Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 crore. “Conservative estimates say the Trust holdings touch a mind-boggling Rs 1.3 lakh crore if their assets in various countries are also taken into account,” sources said.

Sadly, it is this huge wealth that has become a bone of contention in the final days of Baba. We have to wait and see whether the trust members and family members would keep up the image of Sai Baba and maintain his spiritual empire.

Pray for Sai Baba, Tweets Sachin

God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar is stepping into 39th year tomorrow. But he is not celebrating his birthday owing to the pathetic atmosphere in Puttaparthi.

It is known that Sachin is the ardent devotee of Satya Sai Baba. He visited Puttaparthi earlier and spent close with Baba along with Sunil Gavaskar and VVS Lakshman.

He is now feeling very sad for the ill health that troubling Baba from almost a month. He is not calling for any Birthday Party tomorrow. Indeed, Sachin also tweeted this way about Satya Sai Baba:

“I m praying for Shri Sathya Sai Baba quick recovery. Hope everyone will join me in praying for his return to good health”.

Well, that seems to be a true devotion.
